marathon monks
As described in this article, the "marathon monks" of Hiei are beyond dedicated. Their training includes self-inflicted physical hardships that seem utterly inhuman.
I never explicitly thought of running as an act of spiritual devotion. It always seemed part exercise, part stress relief, and part obligation. Still, once in a while, I could almost swear the self disappears and I get a glimpse of the transcendent.

jesu christo
Walking on water might be difficult, but walking on non-Newtonian fluids is definitely a possibilty. Includes funny video goodness.
EDIT 11/14/2006: Practical applications of non-Newtonian fluids include reactive armor for skiers and soldiers.

Trade your cell plan
Seems like a clever idea. The person who wants to get out of the contract only has to pay the $20 to celltradeusa. The person getting into it doesn't have to pay activation fee or take on the full term of the contract. The only part I don't get is what to do about the cell phone subsidies.
